A culture consists of all aspects within a society that form our identities and give us a role within that community like arts and rituals. This blog will specifically focus on how technologies, specifically cell phones, have been mixed into this culture for high school students. Since cultures continuously adapt to various changes, the advancements of technology is an external change that a society will have to adapt to.
To begin, having phones and using them is a very normal thing to do in today’s society. However, with every advancement, the newer generations become increasing attached to them. An anonymous survey done on high school students presented data that showed these students are on average only 42% comfortable leaving their house without their cell phones. People’s phones have become a serious part in their daily lives, it has become the new form of entertainment, with 80% of those same students using their phones for leisure .

Cell phones have also become the major communication method with the availability of different forms of social media that almost all high school students have. 62.5% of the students surveyed use their phones for social media and in the Western Culture, social media has become a large part of peoples influences in their daily lives. having all the communication tools with these individuals when they need it is really beneficial and helpful which also does explain why some people are really attached to their phones.
Cell phone use has also helpfully contributed to students work and homework. By using online classrooms, and a way of accessing course material online, having phones with them is also extremely beneficial. another reason why the younger generations are so connected with their phones is because of all the information, both personal, and school or work related they have on their devices. This was mentioned many times by the students surveyed.
Society has changed and has adapted to the continuous advancements with technologies, specifically phones, that have been introduced into peoples everyday lives. Since high school students now have grown up with these technologies, they are most definitely going to be more attached to their phones than older generations, as can be seen when going out to generally public areas. It has been very incorporated within the culture. For example, now when meeting new people, their numbers, or more commonly their socials are going to be asked for. Being able to have access to these things at these teens disposal makes it much easier, again, for them to be even more connected to their phones.
